Your New Normal - Bedtime Rituals

Many of us are in the midst of navigating a new kind of lifestyle-filled with anxiety, grief, and being stuck at home. And while there is no right or wrong to how you’re coping, we’ve gathered some tips and tricks to help your bedtime and morning rituals, in the name of getting better sleep.

It’s important to try to keep some sort of routine while either working from home, or just being confined to home. Going to bed and waking up at a consistent time works wonders for your sleep. You might even consider keeping your normal night and morning routines from when you were working-simply shifting them to be able to sleep in and get more rest. (and considerably cutting down the commute)  It even helps to change your clothes before starting to work from home, even if it’s just into more loungewear.

Depending on the size of your living space, try not to let work enter your bedroom. Keep it as a sacred space for sleeping. Give yourself time to wind down at night. Get away from work, your computer, other screens. Consider taking a hot bath, or doing something calming. A brain dump can help greatly-write down any of your thoughts and feelings from the day, and make a to-do list for tomorrow.

Most of all, don’t be hard on yourself. Now is a time for rest and reflection. Any way you’re coping with this is the right way. Stay safe, and get good sleep!
